Final tale for Halloween. Reading time: 1 minute. Hope you enjoyed the series.
THE HUNT
5 days till Halloween: Carving out my spot behind the hedge. Ready for ambush if I spot him.
4 days till: Cloud cover darkens the night. My eyes adjust. Scores of nighttime visitors –toads, rodents, a coyote. No sign of him though.
3 days: Colder. Light rain has me shivering, but I’m ever vigilant. Still on alert. Eyes like an owl now.
2 days: I’m one with the Earth. I blend like him. Mother could stand before me and not know I’m here. If he comes, he’ll never see me. But will I see him?
1 day: Still no sighting. Growing hungrier. Rations are low. Moon completely obscured. Pitch dark.
Halloween. If there’s a night he’ll come, we all know it’s gonna be – it’s him! I see him! I see him! Waldo!
The Halloween flash fiction series began 10 days ago. If you want to start at the beginning, here’s the place: Day One: The Graveyard
Happy Halloween!
This has been fun, John. So are you ready for #NaNoWriMo? This should be interesting.

Thanks, Elise. I’m stoked for Nano to get here, and I think I’m pretty ready for it. Time will tell, but I’ll be grossly disappointed in myself if I don’t get 50K words down. I’ll see you come November! And then in December, on the podium!

Where’s Waldo? There? Here? Looks like he’s here.
I always read these with anticipation building – and then, when I get to the end, I’m like HA! Well done on all these tidbits.
Good luck with NaNoWriMo.

Thanks for coming by, Donna. I’ll take all the luck I can get with Nano. I’m excited about the project I’m about to embark on, so that’s good. I might be querying at the same time, so that’s not as good, but we’ll see how things go. May Dixie continue to soar!

Haha! Yes, you could have saved me days and nights.
November? Uh uh, that’s National Novel Writing Month. I will be unfindable. Unless you’re hanging out in the Quiet Room at Oak Bend branch library.
