I referee high school basketball. Absolutely love it. The sportsmanship. The national anthem. The constant challenge. Camaraderie with fellow officials. Tossing the ball for the opening tip. It’s a great game, and I constantly find things to inform my writing.
And sometimes, magic happens. Special nights, against all odds, both teams win. I didn’t do the game that’s linked here – it was played in El Paso – but oh man, you’ll be so glad you watched this. Long as you’re okay with a tear or two.

I played basketball in grade school. We rolled around on the gym floor chasing the ball most of the time.

Things haven’t changed much, Angie. I still see plenty of that! More sliding and diving, but still people rolling around dusting the gym floor with their uniform. Good times.
